The League of Women Voters of the Mid-Shore is hosting a Candidate Forum for Dorchester County Council, 2022.  Candidates for Council seats in Districts 1, 3, and 5 (contested races) will participate in the forum to be held in person at  Weinberg Intergenerational Center at Chesapeake Grove at 108 Chesapeake St, Cambridge, MD 21613 (just beyond and behind the Delmarva Community Service's Building on Rt. 16).  The event is free and open to the public.

Join us to learn the position of each candidate on many key topics of interest to Dorchester County residents.  The following candidates have confirmed their intention to attend:

District 1:

  • Rob Kramer, Jr. (R)
  • Jay Leonard Newcomb (D)

District 3:

  • John Edward James, Jr (R)
  • Ricky C Travers (D)

District 5:

  • Mike Detmer (R)
  • Zia Ashraf (D)
  • David Beverly (I)

Questions posed to the candidates will cover issues that are important to residents of the county, including: budget priorities; law enforcement and crime in the county; transparency of council deliberations; and the relationship between the county manager, the council and county staff. After a welcome by the moderator, candidates will make opening statements and respond to questions posed by the moderator and members of the public. The latter will be collected on notecards and read by the moderator.

This is your opportunity to learn more about each candidate as you make your decision on how to cast your important vote.
